Origins
The stone circle or henge dates from 2500 BC and is made up of a circular mound, 76 metres in diameter and 2 metres high. There is an internal ditch about 1.5 metres in depth bounding the stones themselves.
There are some 60 stones rather surprisingly all laid flat the reason for which is not known.
